Muhammad migrated to Yathrib in 622 CE which is now called Medina. The flight or Hijra is the start of calendar which is followed by the followers of Islam, while in Medina, Muhammad (P.B.U.H) fostered harmony and peace among the tribes that were involved in a conflict with each other.
Muhammad (P.B.U.H) formed the constitution of Medina, Ummah, which later on declared federation of tribes of Medinan and the immigrants from Mecca. In 632, Muhammad (P.B.U.H) fell ill and died. But at that time the Arabian Peninsula was greatly under the influence of Islam.
